Agyenim-Boateng urges NDC Youth to participate in agriculture

Accra, Feb. 21, GNA - Mr James Agyenim-Boateng, Deputy Minister of Tourism, has advised youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to tak= e advantage of the Youth in Agriculture Programme and form working groups to be registered under the block farm concept. He said this would put them in gainful employment while promoting food production in their areas.

Mr Agyenim-Boateng gave the advice when addressing youth of the party at Lambussie in the Jirapa-Lambussie District of Upper West Region during a working visit. A statement issued in Accra copied to the Ghana News Agency on Monday said Mr Ludwig Akpene Hlodze, National Youth Organiser of the ruling NDC, led a team of Deputy Ministers and youth activists who were on a working visit to the region.

The working visit was after a day's seminar for Regional Youth Organisers and their Deputies held at the Institute of Local Government Studies at Madina in Accra. It was dubbed; 93Action Year - Regional Youth Organisers' Seminar= ". Mr Stanlav Xoese Dogbe, a Presidential Aide urged the constituency and branch youth organisers to continuously work hard for the success of the party in their respective constituencies. He briefed the youth on development projects and achievement of government in the last two years and answered questions from the participants.

Mr Hlodze, during an open forum, pledged to resource the executives of the branches to enable them to coordinate activities of youth groups in the constituencies within the Jirapa-Lambussie District. He expressed appreciation for the support the constituency gave him since his election a year ago, and tasked the executives to engage adequately with their members to ensure that the party remained strong on the ground.

In Wa Central, the team held similar forums with the party youth organisers, DCEs and representatives of selected youth groups on pertinent issues bordering on party unity, national development and support. There was a grand TEIN forum on the Wa Campus of the University of Development Studies [UDS], to crown the working visit of the team. Newly elected TEIN executives were sworn into office by the National Youth Organiser who tasked them to continue to work hard at winning more souls for the party on campus especially the young women on campus.

Mr Dogbe advised the students not to put their studies behind any othe= r activity on campus since their foremost responsibility on campus was to study for a degree. He challenged them to engage their opponents in sound debates on campu= s in championing the achievements of the President Mills Administration. Mr Agyenim-Boateng urged the students to desist from engaging in any activities that was likely to affect the rather peaceful atmosphere on campus. He admonished them to keep faith with the party that had great opportunities for the youth. Mr Hlodze described the visit as very successful and stated that his next visit would be to the Eastern Region.
