Wioso (Ash), Nov 16, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano Premier Rural Bank last year increased its shares by recording 95.3 million cedis as against 59.9 million cedis in 2004, representing an upward growth of 62 per cent.
The bank additionally increased its deposits of 6.3 billion cedis in 2004 to 8.8 million cedis in December 2005, showing an increase of 2.5 billion or 39 per cent.
Total assets increased from 4.9 billion cedis to 6.2 billion, reflecting an increase of 1.3 billion or 26.5 per cent. Mr. C.K.Akowuah, the interim Board Chairman of the bank, said this at the bank's 14th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Wioso in the Ahafo-Ano South District on Thursday.
He called on stakeholders to increase their shares to enable the bank to exceed its target in the coming years to ensure its rapid growth.
Mr. K.B. Lesta of the Banking Supervision Department of the Bank of Ghana (BOG), urged all stakeholders to help propel the bank to exceptional heights to make it a leading bank in the Ashanti Region.
