Mankranso (Ash), Feb. 3, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano South District committee of the Area Council Chairpersons have petitioned President J.A. Kufuor to retain the appointment of Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the acting District Chief Executive for his ingenuity, competence and dynamism, which has helped to consolidate the concept of local government decentralisation in the area.

In a petition addressed to the President, copied to the press and signed by all the chairpersons of the area council, it said the DCE had been able to initiate projects including the construction of a building to house the district's area councils.

It said the acting DCE employed competent hands to man these area councils and has also provided logistic inputs to make the district assembly sub-structures function effectively in the district.

His effort in ensuring equitable distribution of development projects has enabled communities, which had never seen any project since independence to benefit from projects such as boreholes, places of convenience and teacher's quarters among others.

The petition said apart from his excellent human relationships as he socialises with both the young and the old, his initiative and drive to stem the migration of the youth to the urban areas has led to the employment of most young people in the district under the President's Special Initiative.

It is as a result of his tougher stance against illegal chain-saw operations in the area that has earned him animosity from some leaders of the community, who because of their involvement in the illegal business go round trading lies to tarnish the good name of the DCE, the petition added.
