Ahaspora launches stop coronavirus campaign

At Ahaspora Professionals Network, April is our ‘Give Back’ month, which we have been committed to annually for the past 8 years. This is a time where we partner with selected organisations to donate money and/or products to those who are less fortunate.

Sadly, in 2020, April also happens to be the month where COVID-19 has taken over our lives and causing immense stress to all. As such, we decided to align our donation drive with preventing and eliminating COVID-19, whilst contributing towards protecting the well-being of our nation.

On 1st April, at Ahaspora, we launched Stop COVID-19 - 100 by 500, a campaign drive requesting 500 people to donate GHC100 each to procure personal protective equipment for healthcare workers and food for the vulnerable.

We have selected three organisations which shall be the recipients of the funds raised, these are; • Ghana Association of Doctors in Residency (GADOR) - funds donated shall purchase personal protective equipment • Free Lunch Project - funds raised to support the provision of basic food and supplies all over Accra • Delights of Eden - providing bread for those living in disadvantaged areas within Accra.

To date, 75 Ahasporans have donated, and we have been able to release a first tranche of donation to Delights of Eden, “Through the love shown by Ahaspora, we have been able to supply bread to an additional 200 people, (resulting to 1370 people reached in one week), which is more than what we initially planned. From the looks of the recipients' faces, they won’t forget this gesture any time soon. Ahaspora remembered them when their world was falling apart” stated Michelle Majid-Michel, CEO of Delights of Eden.

To date we have raised GHC14,000 from 75 donors so we have a distance to go with only 16 days left of this month. We are confident that we will surpass our goal and be able to give more.
