Maulvi Abdul Wahab Adam, Ameer (Head) and Missionary in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, has called on Ahmadi Muslims to strive to achieve the Mission's ideals of universal peace, justice and service through hard work, good counsel and sacrifice.
They should also pray unceasingly for unity, peace and prosperity for the nation.
Maulvi Adam was opening a two-day conference of the Mission in Ashanti Region in Kumasi on Friday under the theme, "Spiritual Leadership Live-wire of Islam".
He said, "it is inconceivable that any group, be it religious, political or social could maintain its unity and cohesion as well as focus on the pursuance of its avowed aims and objectives without a visionary and sagacious leader".
No formal congregational prayer is possible in Islam without a leader whose movement is scrupulously followed by the worshippers.
This underscored the importance of leadership in Islam, he said.
Maulvi Adam referred to the "smoothness" of Ghana's transition from the former to the present leadership and said it was a testimony of the moral and spiritual discipline of the members.
Maulvi Hameedullah Zafar, Ashanti Regional Missionary, speaking on "Moral Values in Islam" called for a mutual relation between parents to ensure a healthy family.
He stressed the importance of social peace and unity and asked them to remain disciplined to achieve peace.
Maulvi Hameedullah called on children to take good care of their parents in their old age and to be humble.
