The Criminal High Court 3 has dismissed an application by Chinese galamsey queen, Aisha Huang, and four others, for portions of their bail conditions imposed on them by a sister court, to be changed.
The first court that granted the bail ordered that the five accused persons report to the Police Headquarters in Accra twice a week.
But the accused in their application were seeking permission from the court to allow them to report to the Police Regional Command in Kumasi in the Ashanti Regional since that is where they stay, instead of traveling twice a week to the police headquarters in Accra to report themselves.
But the court presided by Justice Iddrisu Abdulai ruled that the accused failed to demonstrate that commuting from Kumasi to Accra had brought any hardship on them.
Aisha Huang, and the four others were arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in Kumasi for allegedly engaging in illegal mining.
