The Africa Tertiary Entrepreneurs Awards (ATEA) and Aketesia Ushering Services of the Aketesia Group of Companies have Donated to the Maximum Security Prisons and Communicable Disease Prisons - Ankaful in the Central Region on Wednesday 10th July, 2019.
They donated food stuffs (rice, oil), assorted drugs (for the communicable prisons), toiletries (toilet rolls, liquid soaps, shower gels), second hand clothes and an undisclosed amount of money to the facilities.
Presenting the items, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Regina Adu Safowaah said the gesture is part of the group's social responsibility of giving back to the society.
DSP Daniel Machator (Public Relations Officer of Prisons (Central Region), received the donation and thanked the Aketesia team for the kind gesture and pleaded with the general public to emulate.
"I'll seize this opportunity to thank you and plead with your colleagues, cooperate Ghana and the general public to emulate this gesture because government can't do it alone," he said.
"We are conjuring magic with government's GHC1.80 feeding grant, we feed each inmate with 60 pesewas per meal; breakfast, lunch and supper every day, he laughed.
Adu Safowaah promised to be an advocate for change and also visit the facilities periodically to put some smiles on the faces of the prisoners.
The Africa Tertiary Awards Business Summit and Press Launch is slated for Thursday 18th July, 2019 at the Christ the King Conference Hall opposite the Jubilee House, Accra.
