Three communities - Akpafu Sopko, Likpe Alavanyo, and Fodome Agbesia - in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region are to benefit from solar-powered mechanised taps under rural water project in the Municipality.

The project is to extend the provision of potable water to communities dependent on rivers and mechanized boreholes for safe water.

Mr Andrews Teddy Ofori, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) who inspected the progress of work on the facilities said the contractor was likely to complete the projects by end of June this year to enable the communities to enjoy safe drinking water.

He said the Assembly strategically, located the facilities in parts of the Municipality where they were needed based on the needs of the community.

Some town folks in Akpafu Sopko told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) they were waiting patiently for the commissioning of the project to solve their water problem.

The MCE also inspected on-going projects in the Municipality including 10-seater institutional toilets at St. Mary’s Senior High School and Akpafu Secondary Technical School, a borehole drilling project at Gbi-Wegbe and a construction site for a theatre for the Likpe Polyclinic.

Mr Ofori told the GNA that the tour was to inspect the progress of work on all projects initiated by the Assembly to make sure they were on schedule, especially projects in schools in the wake of Covid-19 to provide more spaces for students.
