The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akrofuom constituency, Honorable Alexander Blankson has commissioned an electrification project for 9 communities in his constituency under the Self Help Electrification Programme (SHEP-5) Rural Electrification Project.
The move according to the Member of Parliament was in fulfillment of a campaign promise made to the people ahead of the 2020 general elections.
The MP said before the election he was able to connect between 7-8 communities onto the national grid bringing smiles to the faces of residents of the beneficiary communities.
The communities included Grumesa, Benkumhene, Kofigyame, Asiedukrom, Car owner, Akwaako, Agya Atta, Botwekrom and Dunkwafuom.
He said though the processes to extend electricity to other communities were quite exhaustive, he never relented in his efforts to get electricity to his people.
"It took me 4 years to get this done. It wasn't easy but I have to lobby as a Vice chair of the Mines and Energy to get this project to the 9 beneficiary communities ", he stressed.
He thanked the Vice President who is also the NPP flagbearer His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia for his support and said the other challenges facing the community including roads will be dealt with
He said the constituency is heavily relying on the District Road Improvement Program ( DRIP) launched recently to resolve its challenges with bad roads, stressing that, efforts have been made to get the equipment transported to the constituency.
