The Akuapem North District Chief Executive, Mr George Opare Addo, has urged the youth not to allow politics to sway them from embracing policies that had been formulated to improve their living conditions.

He said the government’s interest was to create jobs for the people especially the youth and advised the youth not to allow people to mislead them.

Mr Opare Addo, who was speaking at Adukrom during the presentation of equipment to 135 LESDEP beneficiaries in the district, said the programme was not for only NDC youth but all Ghanaians who qualified per the conditions attached to it.

He said the conditions attached to the programme did not include political lineage or position and urge the youth to register so that they would benefit from the programme.

Mr Addo said, the “Better Ghana Agenda” was on course and the government had demonstrated its commitment towards that by the numerous projects that had been done in the district.

He mentioned building of school blocks and provision of furniture to schools, teachers’ quarters and many others which had been done to improve education as the bedrock of investing in the human resource base.

Mr Addo said the shift system in the district which had resulted in low standards of education would be phased out by the end of the year and called on the people to support government’s programme.

He urge the beneficiaries to work hard to be able to pay back to benefit others and expressed the hope that people would be faithful with the programme so that it would not turn into another pile of debt such as the poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF).

The 135 beneficiaries received assorted equipments such as corn mills, mini trucks, commercial gas ovens, welding and sewing machines, hair dryers, to start their businesses.

The Nifahene, Nana Otutu Kono II, advised the beneficiaries not to sell the equipment but use them to enable them pay back the cost involved.**
