The president’s Physician, Dr Patrina Techi-Ankrah, has revealed that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his wife and presidential staff have all tested negative for Coronavirus.
According to her, a total number of 99 persons have been tested and the results have been negative.
Speaking at the press conference on Wednesday, Dr Techi-Ankrah said “a day before the president’s birthday, him, the first lady, his daughters and all the staff of his household we tested and I am happy to announce that all the tests came negative.”
“A day after his birthday, we continued to test people at the secretaries and as I speak now, a total of 99 persons have been tested and the results have come back negative,” she added.
Meanwhile, Ghana's Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu has confirmed that the country has seen an increase in its cases to 195 and 5 deaths as of Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
All five deaths had underlying chronic medical conditions prior to Coronavirus infection.
The breakdowns of cases in the regions are Greater Accra – 174, Northern Region – 10, Ashanti Region – 9, Upper West Region -1, and the Eastern Region – 1.
He gave the announcement this morning at a press briefing at the Ministry of Information.
Mr. Manu reiterated that 100 of the cases confirmed have been from the ministry's enhanced general surveillance.
3 patients recorded from the general surveillance have fully recovered and have been discharged from the treatment facilities.
He further noted that 80 people out of the same 160 recorded in the general surveillance are responding to treatment while 18 have been discharged to be managed at home.
