Your authoritative, the Crystal Clear Lens can confidently report without contradictions that some senior and founding members of the New Patriotic Party have already seen the defeat yet staring straight in the face of their Flag bearer, Akufo-Addo in the upcoming presidential elections and are throwing in the towel.

Our credible and reliable sources who are die-in-wool members of the NPP and very close to the Flag bearer disclosed to the paper yesterday that former President John Agyekum Kufuor has boldly told some NPP gurus that the 2012 presidential election is a done deal for the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama to continue another four years. The former President, according to the sources at a meeting stated “Our own internal polls which you are all very much aware of, indicate that even in the Ashanti Region, our stronghold, the NDC which has done a lot of work there may win between 28-29% of the vote. According to the sources who were part of a meeting held in Accra with the NPP’s Communications Team on Thursday November 21, 2012 to analyse the fortunes of the party and the way forward, Ex-president Kufuor who was reportedly unhappy with unfolding situation stated that “Akufo-Addo has no chance of becoming the next president of Ghana” and warned them to stop the empty and evil propaganda against president Mahama. According to the sources, Mr. Kufuor also accused the NPP Communications Team for failing to sell the agenda of the NPP. This, the former president said was one of the main causes of the defeat staring in face once again.

He blamed the communications team led by Nana Akomea for dwelling too much on propaganda wickedly meant to destroy the outstanding achievements of the ruling NDCÂ which he added did not do the party and its Flag bearer any good.

He also accused the Akufo-Addo team of failing to sell his 8 years achievements but always go on radio and television to tell listeners and viewers that the NDC people have done nothing since they took office. He told the meeting that voters have become very sophisticated these days; therefore, heavily relying on propaganda was not the way forward since well meaning Ghanaians have seeing the infrastructure the NDC government had achieved within the four years. The sources further told the paper  Kufuor made it clear the meeting that when President Mills died and the tide changed in favour of the NDC, the NPP instead of changing its way of campaigning still hanged onto using sheer propaganda to bamboozle their way through. The sources quoted the former who was the chairman of the meeting as saying “You have failed the party. Your strategy did not work, and as a result I will be telling you a lie if I say that we are going to win the elections”.

He also reportedly castigated the NPP communications team of spending too much time talking about the debt owed by Mr. Ibrahim Mahama to the Merchant Bank. He told them in plain language that it is not a crime for a brother of a president to owe a bank.

He stated “For your information, many voters out there did not like it when you branded President Mahama as corrupt simply because his brother is indebted to a bank”, he admonished them.

Ex-President Kufuor therefore advised Akufo-Addo and the NPP at this point he does not think it will be smart politics for them continue throw in more money as the campaign goes down the wire because it is not going to help Akufo-Addo to win.Â

But the NPP Communications Director, Nana Akomea, who was at the meeting said it was too early to concede defeat stating that the NDC was prone to serious internal wrangling and that anything could happen within the NDC for them to take advantage of.
