-Invites pastors to pray for NPP Victory
‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap,’ – Galatians 6:7 KJV
By Alhaji Bature Iddrisu
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his party appear to have no regard for the above scripture quotation from the Bible and will go to all lengths to con Ghanaians in their attempt to win power.
After hounding late President John Atta Mills as having turned the Osu Castle seat of Government into a prayer camp, Akufo-Addo and the NPP are now trying to woo Christians into believing that they also fear and honour God.
The latest stunt from the NPP Campaign, after publicizing its flagbearer on a pilgrimage to Israel, is the announcement of a prayer festival, in conjunction with Ashanti Regional Council of Churches on Sunday 11th November, 2012, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, under the theme: “Jericho Shall Fall” (Joshua 6).
Ironically, a press release announcing the prayer festival, was signed by the Director of Operations, Lord Commey, known for spearheading a militant group within the party known as ‘Action Troopers’.
The release said the prayer festival, is to ‘seek the face of God for a peaceful election and His favour for victory in the December elections.’
“It is the belief of the NPP presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, that ‘the battle is the Lords’, and therefore the need for all Ghanaians to join him in this purely spiritual exercise,” the release stated.
Even though the release said that renowned Bishops, Reverend Ministers and Church Leaders from across the country would lead the event, it is not clear yet which men of God will honour such an invitation to promote a purely partisan event to pray for the victory of NPP.
The leadership of the NPP, in August 2011, issued a directive to all the party’s branches across the country to set up both Christian and Muslim groups by August 20th of the same year to pray for the party’s victory in the 2012 elections. It turned out to be a fiasco.
After reports that he had emptied his bladder on an uncompleted Mosque at Damongo in the Northern region of Ghana, thereby defiling it, Nana Addo has not missed visits to Islamic places of worship for photo opportunities.
The latest was when he joined Muslims in the Bia West Constituency in the Western region to mark the Eid-il-Adha.
