Duori (U/W), July 23, GNA- A Divisional Chief in the Jirapa Traditional Area of the Upper West Region has asked Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to choose Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama as his running mate. Naa S. D. Dombo II, Chief of Duori said the Vice-President has handled himself well and performed creditably to the admiration of all Ghanaians and should therefore be given another chance.

"He has done remarkably well as Vice-President and worked hard to improve the image of the party in Northern Ghana and there is no need to nominate a fresh person to run with Nana Addo", he said. He said this at a news conference at his palace in Duori in the Jirapa District to bolster support for the Vice-President. Naa Dombo said Alhaji Aliu's nomination would be acclaimed by both the North and the South and all tribes in the North see him as a unifying force.

The Chief who is the son of the Late S.D. Dombo, a political giants of the United Party and Progress Party tradition, said when Nana Addo became President, history would be made in the country. But he wants him to make world history by being the first Presidential Candidate ever to choose a sitting Vice President as running mate.

In a related development, the Nasara Youth Club of the NPP in the Wa Municipality has urged Nana Addo to examine the track records of all persons whose names were being mentioned as his possible running mates. They also called on Nana Addo to consider the Vice-President as partner since his track record in government and opposition was very impressive.

The Nasara Youth Club of Wa made the call at a news conference at Wa on Wednesday, where they appealed to the Vice-President to accept any proposal to partner the party's flagbearer for the elections.

"We think that if any of the other political parties had an opportunity of using a sitting Vice-President, they would have taken the advantage and the NPP should not make a mistake".
