Agona Nsaba (C/R), Nov 11, GNA - The immediate past Chairman of the Agona East Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Alex Anyanful Nkansah, has appealed to delegates to the National Congress of the party on December 22, 2007 to vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to lead the party in the 2008 general elections.
He described Nana Akufo Addo as a "true royal member" who had assisted in the organisation of the party from 1992 up to date that enabled the NPP to defeat the National Democratic Congress. Mr Nkansah making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Sunday at Agona Nsaba in the Central Region noted that if the NPP needed somebody who was firm, reliable and affable, then the delegates should choose Nana Akufo Addo as the flag bearer. He stressed that Nana Akufo Addo was somebody who could implement correct policies and decisions and also listen to party members. Mr Nkansah said the delegates should not make a mistake to give the nod to any of the aspirants except the former Minister of Foreign Affairs because he had no questionable character that could be used against him in the 2008 elections.
He said, "There is no fault with him. He is just, honest and patriotic and had since 1992 been of support to the NPP in the areas of financial and logistic support to move the party forward". The former Constituency Chairman asked the delegates not to make any mistake and to vote massively for Nana Akufo Addo, adding that, the party wanted somebody who could continue the good work of President J A Kufuor since 2001.
Mr Nkansah stated that the former Foreign Minister was the only person when given the nod could perform to the wishes of the party's supporters and sympathizers.
He declared that Nana Akufo Addo could listen and knew the problems facing the foot soldiers since he was one in the Akyem Abuakwa Constituency before becoming the Member of Parliament for the area. According to him Nana Akufo Addo fought injustice, rot, corruption and human right abuse during the PNDC and NDC rules, saying that, "He knows the true members who assisted the NPP to come to power in 2000". He said the former Foreign Minister was the only contestant who could defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flag bearer to enable the NPP to continue its good work to improve the life of Ghanaians.
