Akufo-Addo can never be President - Asoma Banda

A former member of the Council of State, Alhaji Asoma Banda, has stated New Patriotic Party's presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will never get the nod of Ghanaians to become a President of the country.

"The truth is he [Nana Akufo-Addo] can never be president... You see, to be a President, Kwasi, you must have certain structure, intelligence," he told Kwesi Pratt Junior on TV3's Hot Issues, which is scheduled to be televised Saturday at 12:00.

He explained that for someone to become President, the person must have both wisdom and intelligence, adding "you see, people take certificate in university to be intelligent, No! You must have a wisdom"

His comment has reignites similar comments which suggested that Nana Akufo-Addo, who is making his third attempt at clinching the highest office of the land, can never be President.

Communications Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, last Saturday made similar comments when he appeared on Accra-based Joy FM. He argued that Nana Akufo-Addo cannot be President because of his poor leadership as well as the attitude of one of the members of the party, Gabby Otchere-Darko.

“You see Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko is part of the reason why Nana Akufo-Addo will never be president of this country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Banda said he could not understand why people would want to represent a constituency in Parliament when they do not live in that constituency, and added that instead of the Job 600, offices should have been built for MPs at their respective constituencies.

"There are people in this country who want to even go to Parliament Kwasi, they don’t have a sleeping place in that constituency and you want to be the father of the constituency," he said.
