Akufo-Addo comments on homosexuality a diversionary tactics - Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the biggest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said that the President’s comments on same-sex marriage is a deliberate attempt to divert the attention of Ghanaians from pertinent issues affecting the people of Ghana as a result of his bad style of leadership.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said his administration will not change the laws of Ghana to favour same-sex marriages.

He indicated that the act is against his religious beliefs and he is not prepared to do anything contrary to the dictates of those values.

“Let me assure that this government has no plans to change the law on same-sex marriage, we have no authority, and we will not seek any authority to do so.”

But speaking in an interview with Accra-based OKAY FM in an interview MyNewsGh.com monitored, Asiedu Nketiah indicated that the President of Ghana’s timing to state his position on homosexuality is a move to divert attention from the pressing issues in the country.

“The NPP think they are smart. When government was asked to state its position some months ago, why did Nana Addo fail to do so? He was quiet throughout the period but now that the NPP is suffering from problems they have caused, the president has said this in order to get Ghanaians to stop talking about AMERI and the tracking system they are introducing in the Senior High School level,” Asiedu Nketiah said in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.Com.

He added that the President stating his position on homosexuality now does not add anything to the debate because he failed to show leadership when the issue was rife and needed to be addressed.
