President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Citi FM’s Bernard Avle for winning the Journalist of the Year award at the 23rd Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards.
The president in a twitter post a day after the awards ceremony commended the Citi Breakfast Show host for his good works over the years.
“Warm congratulations to Bernard Avle on being named 2017 Journalist of the Year. Thoroughly well deserved. Congratulations to all award winners,” the president tweeted.
President Akufo-Addo also entreated journalists in the country to highlight issues bordering on social ills, bringing them to the fore to be tackled for the good of the Ghanaian people.
He also urged journalists to use their respective mediums to draw the attention of investors into the country to boost economic growth.
The 23rd Ghana Journalists Association Awards which took place on Saturday, October 27 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel was on the theme State of Investigative Journalism: Boundaries of privacy and Borders of the public interest.
Journalists across the country attended the event, which saw three Media General journalists swept four awards.
The event was chaired by Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu and had Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo as the guest speaker.
Over thirty journalists were awarded for their hard work and compelling stories in the year under review.
