Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been enstooled a chief by the Paramount Chief of Monrovia, Liberia in a short ceremony.

President Akufo-Addo was in the Liberian capital on Friday, May 26 as part of the third leg of his tour of West Africa.

On his arrival, the president was given the key to the city of Monrovia – a gesture done respectable dignitaries – by Mayor Clara Doe.

The chiefs of Monrovia also gathered later to bestow on President Akufo-Addo the stool name Kandakai Gbogba, which means “a good man who brings peace”.

He was also later in the night decorated with Liberia’s highest national award.

President Akufo-Addo received the Grand Order of the Most Venerable Order of the knighthood of Pioneers from Liberian President, Ellen Sirleaf Johnson.

He is expected to jet to Mali later on Saturday to continue his tour.
