President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been spotted using a Toyota V8 vehicle at an Independence Day celebration for the first time since he assumed office.
The president is known for using his personal cars including a Lexus, BMW and Mercedes cars since he assumed office in January 2017.
The reason that was given in 2017 for the use of personal cars by the president, according to the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, was that over 200 fleets of cars went missing at the Flagstaff House after the Mahama administration left office.
Without any updates on the missing cars allegation, Akufo-Addo continued to use personal cars at official functions for a long time which included a BMW 2007 model, Lexus and Mercedes Benz.
Mr Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a relative of the president, in a Facebook post on November 13, 2017, explained that officials of the Akufo-Addo government including Ministers and their Deputies will use saloon vehicles (Camrys and Corollas) instead of Toyota Land Cruiser V8s as part of a cost-cutting measure.
This was after Akufo-Addo used a BMW in 2017, Mercedes in 2018 and Lexus in 2019.
