The government of President Nana Akufo-Addo has started moves to implement the Free Senior High School campaign promise, ClassFMonline.com has learnt.
A letter from the management of the Ghana Education Service dated January 13 titled: ‘Request for Enrolment Data of All Second Cycle Institutions’ has directed all “regional directors to provide data on enrolment of all second cycle institutions in the Region: Secondary, Secondary Technical and Technical Vocational Schools,” towards that.
The data, according to the letter, “will enable management prepare adequately towards the implementation of the Free Senior High School Policy.”
The GES said “Regional Directors are to note that data submitted by the Secondary, Secondary Technical and Technical Vocational Institutions will be cross-checked against that of the CSSPS Secretariat.”
The Free Senior High School education promise was the main platform on which the New Patriotic Party bid for the presidency ahead of the 2012 elections. It also featured in the party’s promises ahead of the 2016 polls.
