Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress Kofi Portuphy says the NPP government is “drowning in a quick sand of corruption”.
The former NADMO boss made the remarks in Accra Thursday when he addressed the press on the performance of the Akufo-Addo government six months after assumption of office.
“The embarrassment engulfing the ‘Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government’ is becoming too much. They flew to power on the wheels of false allegations. As things stand now, the NPP government is sinking in quick sand of heavy corruption,” he said.
He said the President is giving excuses to cover up his inefficiencies.
“…Because in Ghanaian folk law, Kwaku Ananse always begins as intelligent and the shrewdest person but ends up in scampering to hide his embarrassment in his web.”
Mr. Portuphy said the President’s inability to deal with the contaminated oil scandal at the Bulk Oil and Storage Transportation (BOST) is a clear indication that he cannot be relied upon to wage any war against corruption.
