The Member of Parliament for Adentan constituency, Kojo Adu-Asare says the utopian promises by the presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP); is driven by his [Nana] desperation for power.

He stated that the supposed free secondary education and healthcare of the NPP is borne out of Nana Akufo-Addo frustration and his refusal to accept that he has lost the December polls in advance.

Nana Akufo-Addo in an address at the Sunyani Nurses Training College Wednesday promised to provide free medical care to all children under the Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as part of measures to improve the standards of living condition of Ghanaians under his presidency.

But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Kojo Adu Asare said the NPP flag-bearer must wake up to realities and quit making unattainable promises just to win power.

According to him, Nana Addo knowing that his flagship free SHS policy has been flawed by the NDC is now shifting post to the health sector.

The Adentan MP stated unequivocally that the ruling party will interrogate every policy by the NPP to ensure it does it does not throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians.

Conceding that the opposition party leader has brilliant ideas, the NDC MP Nana Addo should not embellish it to make it sound too good to be true.

“When he [Nana] goes around promising free things; he will be communicating to only the people around him and not Ghanaians” he added.

Adu-Asare underscored the need for an improvement of access and infrastructure at the basic level before making the secondary education free.

In a rebuttal, a communications team member of the NPP, Maame Efua Acheampomaa stressed that an Akufo-Addo presidency will fulfill all its promises it is making to Ghanaians to Ghanaians.

She said unlike the NDC, the NPP has the interest of Ghana at heart hence if voted to power; it will utilize the state resources to develop the nation.

Maame Efua urged Ghanaians to massive for Nana Akufo-Addo for free SHS and good health care.
