I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of a great religious figure of our country, the Ameer and Missionary-in-Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Dr. Wahab A. Adam.
The Ghanaian nation is indebted to him for his many years of service and dedication to the country, and the profound contribution he made to its spiritual and moral welfare.
Maulvi Wahab Adam and I always had a good personal and working relationship. Indeed, as Attorney General, I had the privilege of recommending him to President Kufuor for appointment as a member of the National Reconciliation Commission, which was set up to heal the wounds of the nation after decades of military rule. According to all accounts, he excelled in the work of the Commission. A few months ago, when I was in London, Maulvi Wahab Adam was kind enough to invite me to attend a conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, which proved to be an interesting experience for me.
Ghana has lost a most illustrious son.
My sincere condolences and sympathies go to his family and all Ahmadi Muslims across the country and the world.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
