Economist and a former lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo has warned President Akufo-Addo to be bold and courageous and punish wrongdoers in government if he wants the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stay in power for a longer time.

“Nana Akufo-Addo must punish wrongdoers in government and his own political party…He shouldn’t treat such people with kids gloves,” he advised.

According to him, Nana Addo’s failure to punish wrongdoers will spell doom for the New Patriotic Party in future elections.

Speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis programme “Boiling Point” Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo, who expressed disgust at the conduct of some government officials underscored the need for Nana Addo’s appointees to be disciplined.

He noted that though the Akufo-Addo’s administration has only been in government for barely a year, some officials he said are exhibiting greediness and have become power drunk and have fixed siren in their vehicles and disregarding traffic regulations.

Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Sector Reforms reminded the New Patriotic Party about the difficulties the party faced before it secured victory during the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He said there was no indication that the opposition NPP was going to win the elections because the then incumbent NDC had corrupted the system and also wagged a negative campaign against the NPP.

He argued that the NPP’s elections victory was divine intervention and urged the party to do everything possible to protect it.

“This victory must not be joked with …it was a divine so those who have become greedy and exhibiting indiscipline should be careful,” he stated.

He warned the governing New Patriotic Party to be wary of their actions saying Ghanaians are no noise people and can reject the party in future elections despite the good policies government has rolled out.
