Akufo-Addo on unity and reconciliation journey in Volta

Dzodze, July 5, GNA- Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, on Friday said he has begun a journey of reconciliation and unity between the party and the Volta region. He said "We have to close the wide gap that exist between the NPP and the Volta region since 1992", at a rally at Dzodze as part of his campaign tour of the region.

Nana Akufo-Addo appealed to the people in the region to open their hearts to the NPP and contribute to its retention in office in the 2008 Election.

He said the sour relationship between the party and the region was a result of vile propaganda, which tended to affect the NPP adversely since 1992.

Nana Akufo-Addo said on the contrary evidence as far as the party's performance in the region in terms of development indicated was positive, a demonstration of the national character of the NPP. He said the trend would continue if he was voted into power, with the establishment of the first public University in the region. Nana Akufo-Addo introduced the Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi as the party's parliamentary candidate for Ketu-North in the 2008 Election and exhorted the people to give him their mandate. He could not call on the chiefs and NPP activists in the Ketu-South district who converged at Aflao, as planned. Nana Akufo Addo who was due to address rallies in the Ketu South, Akatsi and Keta Districts on Friday but had to return to Accra abruptly from Dzodze where he had addressed a rally was expected to resume the tour on Monday.
