The National Identification Authority (NIA) Division of the Public Services Workers Union, Trades Union Congress (TUC) Ghana, has officially petitioned President Akufo-Addo to request the removal of Executive Secretary Professor Kenneth Attafuah.

The petition, dated July 1, includes the signatures of 920 NIA staff members and is supported by nearly the entire workforce.

"The decision of the staff and union to petition your esteemed office for the removal of Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah is based on unfair labor practices that go against labor laws and the Human Resource Manual and Policy Framework for Ghana Public Services, violations of SSNIT law, poor corporate governance structure, selective and administrative injustice in staff recruitment, placement, and promotion, and a lack of innovative ideas to manage the authority's administration," the petition states.

The staff expressed concerns that Prof. Attafuah's continued tenure could lead to further harm and reputational damage.

"His staff have completely lost trust in his leadership and can no longer work with him confidently. These, along with violations of labor laws and SSNIT Acts, provide sufficient justification for his immediate removal from office without delay," the petition added.
