Hohoe, May 15, GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised to unite Ghana on a solid foundation of equality for all irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation.

He said this at separate durbars in some towns in the Hohoe District on the second day of his tour of the Volta Region. Nana Akufo-Addo said the Volta Region, which was formerly allied to the United Party (UP) tradition, has since 1992 been a political waterloo for the party.

Nana Akufo Addo said false and malicious propaganda seemed to be the overriding factor for the situation and expressed determination to overturn the scales.

He said the country was poised for an economic takeoff on the solid foundation laid by President John Agyekum Kufuor and urged Ghanaians to retain the NPP in power.

Mr Allan Kyeremateng, a former Minister of Trade and Industry, urged the electorate to vote for continuity in the December election to consolidate the consistent growth and development unparalleled in the country's history.

He appealed to people in the Volta Region to be part of the success story.

Mr Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, a former NPP presidential aspirant, told the people that the December election was about who could guarantee the future of the country and not about who supplied the most T-shirts, dole out money or who relied on family and tribal affiliations for political gain. Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, urged the people of the region to be wary of rumour mongering. 15 May 08
