The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo Addo is struggling to put together a strong campaign strategy ahead of the November general elections.

According to the NDC, Nana Akufo Addo’s is currently running a weak campaign such that the NPP is not able to mobilize crowd to attend its own programmes and have rather resorted to engaging in opportunistic campaigns.

The NDC’s assertion comes on the back of reports that the three- time flag bearer of the NPP will be travelling to Kwahu in the Eastern Region during the Easter festivities during which he’s expected to join the people of the mountainous area in a massive cleanup exercise.

But this has not gone down well with officials of the ruling party who see the former Minister of Foreign Affairs action as a pretentious and populist move.

Speaking on Okay FM Friday, National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams stated that Nana Addo’s strategy of now visiting churches and markets where he ordinarily will not go is a clear indication that his campaign is really struggling.

“I hear Nana is going to take part in a cleanup exercise in Kwahu, is he doing that because it’s an election year? In 2008, he did the same thing and was compelled to do things that he will ordinarily never do such as riding in a public transport (trotro), because Prof. Mills was then conducting a house-to-house campaign.”

He added: “the NDC as a party organized a massive cleanup exercise last year in Kwahu when we were nowhere near elections. Our party will not do such an exercise during Easter, taking advantage of the massive crowd expected in Kwahu simply because we want peoples votes; such actions by Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP is pretentious.”
