President Akufo-Addo is an excellent speech reader but hollow on substance, Sam George has observed.
According to the Ningo Prampram MP, the President appears to be focused on providing attracting sound bites and inserts for the media than focusing on improving the standard of living of Ghanaians.
The criticism comes after the President extolled his performance in a meeting with the media on Wednesday as he marked one year in office.
“I am very confident that the NPP has a good story to tell about many of the things that we have done and are doing since we assumed office a year ago.
“In January this year, we have disbursed GH¢125 million out of the remainder of GH¢600 million to the contractors. Additionally, we have paid GH¢826 million of the GH¢1.2 billion loan contracted by the previous administration, for which the Road Fund was used as collateral,” President Akufo-Addo said.
Speaking on the Morning Starr Friday, the former presidential aide urged the President to concentrate on improving the lives of Ghanaians.
“He is excellent and fantastic with scripted speeches, He gives you the right insert for your news, the right sound bite but on substance, it is hollow. He is running sound bite government. There are a lot of sound bites in the one year governance. Our President has become a Chief clearing agent at the Flagstaff house. He always clears his appointees who are alleged to be corrupt”.
In reaction, the MP for Awutu Senya West and deputy communication minister George Andah said the government is delivered on its promises.
“The achievements of Akufo-Addo cannot be disputed. Even though there are few misses. We are working on our misses. I think the first one year of the administration has been fairly good. You can talk about the way to which the economy has been stabilized,” he said.
