Security Aide to President Nana Akufo Addo, Capt. Retired Edmund Kwadwo Koda has dismissed reports of an alleged robbery incident that took place in his home during which he was robbed of an amount of GHC800,000.
The Herald Newspaper’s Monday, May 7, 2018 edition, reported of the alleged incident in the Weija home of the President’s security officer by some motorbike riding gun wielding armed robbers numbering about twelve.
According to the Newspaper, the brother in-law of Capt. Koda during the attack last Wednesday was shot by the armed robbers whom the former alleges are members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) Vigilante group, Invisible Forces.
It further reported that the former soldier was home when the incident happened, where the robbers were said to be furious at him for keeping such huge amount on himself while most of them were jobless and hungry.
However responding to the Newspaper’s assertion, Capt. Koda described the report as outright fabrication and urged the public to treat it with the contempt that it deserves.
” I don’t stay at Weija, I used to stay there until the BNI incident in my home in 2016. I was not at Weija at the time of the said incident as the paper claims, if robbers went to Weija to attack someone then it’s not me. No one is staying in that house, so if armed robbers indeed went there as the paper alleges, then they met an empty house and therefore they couldn’t have shot anyone. Nothing of that sort has happened.
He added “The paper claims that I’ve reported the matter to the Head of National Security, how can I report about such an incident to the Minister of National Security when it has not happened. I don’t have GHC800,000 for me to even lodge such amount in my home. This is pure lies and it must be disregarded.”
