Whereas some bigwigs in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) including its General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie vigorously support Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to run unopposed in 2016 polls for the third consecutive time, NDC’s General Secretary sees that as “unfortunate and a waste of time”.
In spite of Nana Addo’s assertion that he intends to take a break from politics for a while, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is certain his resurfacing on a campaign platform as NPP’s flagbearer in 2016 will be a walkover for President Mahama and the NDC.
The NDC scribe argued that Nana Akufo-Addo’s hooliganism style of leadership and his famous “All-die-be-die” statement caused the NPP in 2012.
Adding that, the dismissal of his petition by the Supreme Court will also be a factor to make him “unpopular and unmarketable” in 2016 if chosen by the NPP.
Speaking on Adom FM, Asiedu Nketia also known as General Mosquito, asserted that the NDC under no circumstance will panic if Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo leads the NPP in the 2016 presidential polls as claimed.
“Why should we (NDC) be afraid of the NPP if they want to retain Nana Addo for 2016? He has been disgraced in court, so how possible can they (NPP) market him? I can say that, Nana Addo has been marketed by the NPP as a vandal, and his “all-die-be-die” system he wanted to bring into Ghana’s politics.
“…After he has been disgraced in court, he is now humble for Ghanaians to accept him, but that is too late. Even after he has accepted the Supreme Court verdict, his party members are beating war drums. Whiles some want Afari-Gyan (EC Boss) to resign, some are alleging the Supreme Court Judges were bribed. This show the kind of person Nana Addo is,” he lamented.
