A group championing the third time presidential aspirations of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Coalition for Akufo Addo 2016, has described the former Attorney General as a humble man of “impeccable integrity”.

According to the group, which does most of its advocacy on social media, “Akufo-Addo is not afraid to sacrifice his personal glorification in order to ensure that Africa does not witness another post-election chaos and violence on the Continent”.

It said: “His contribution to peace and development remain central to every step he takes. He has done this on a countless number of occasions”.

Describing Akufo-Addo as “a real statesman”, the group says the conduct and actions of the twice-defeated Presidential Candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), have always been to put his country’s interest first. This is exactly what he did. Even before the dust on the [election petition] verdict could settle, this humble man of peace and vision personally called President John Mahama to congratulate him”.

In the group’s opinion, Akufo-Addo, even “in the face of the clear injustice delivered by the Supreme Court in the election petition”, gracefully accepted the verdict without flinching.

“Any other pronouncement of Akufo- Addo’s could have plunged Ghana into obdurate conflicts and violence and set in motion a spiral destruction of the country”, it noted.

Adducing reasons for which it believes Nana Akufo-Addo deserves a third chance, the Coalition said: “Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has demonstrated himself as a real statesman and joined the league of great statesmen of contemporary Ghana”.

“While rightly disagreeing with the court’s decision and the reasons adduced by the Atuguba-led panel of Judges, a man of peace and vision established himself once again at the highest level of statesmanship anyone could aspire to”.

It also noted that: “Akufo-Addo has distinguished himself over many decades in his professional and political life as a real and humble statesman”.
