President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is at the receiving end of several backlashes on twitter for ‘hurriedly’ extending well wishes to UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson after failing to speak on the shooting incident in Ashaiman.
Twitter users have labeled the president as heartless for ignoring the shooting of one Eric Ofotsu by a soldier in Ashaiman on Sunday.
President Akufo-Addo upon hearing that the UK Prime Minister was moved to intensive care in hospital after his coronavirus symptoms worsened took to twitter to wish him well.
“Wishing British Prime Minister, @BorisJohnson a speedy recovery and God’s blessings. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and the British people at this critical time,” the president wrote.
But the tweet which did not sit well with some Ghanaians attracted severe backlash from them, with some insulting the president for intruding in issues that shouldn’t be of concern.
“It seems our President care's so much about foreigners than his own citizens who voted for him in the 2016 general elections. A citizen was shot dead by a military man in Ashaiman yesterday and till now our listening President has not heard about it to console the family's,” a Twitter user wrote.
Another tweep accused him of losing track of issues that happen in his own country because he has refused to watch our local channels.
“Continue watching international channels such as @BBCWorld @AJEnglish to know what happens there, yet you don't watch @utvghana @tv3_ghana @GHOneTV @CitiTVGH to know what happens in Ghana! No wonder you are donating your future salary while we need that cash now,” the tweet read.

Always quick to react to news from the west but never have time to send well wishes to incidents that happen at his own doorstep. Ghana water says those who owe are exempted from having free water for 3 months. Just plead for us cuz we all need it to survive coronavirus.

Speedy recovery to him????. Learn from this level of transparency of @BorisJohnson,but,we know you can't do that.We didn't hear of your COVID19 test but we were told about the results. This level of opaque leadership only breeds corruption as we are witnessing under you.

A citizen was shot in cold blood yesterday by a military man but you didn't find that worthy to talk about,5 Ghanainas have died from this same #Covid19 n you're yet to publicly console their families, over 30 people have died from CSM n u've been smh quiet abt it.pls do better!

In fact president Nana Addo, don't think about we the citizens why because last week a brother was shot and the president never spoke about it but less than 12hrs our president is aware of Boris Johnson death and is very sad.

Foreigners is what the president think of always..
You see the difference b/n a country with a leader and a country with a "leader being controlled by his cousin". @BorisJohnson has never hidden his status from the taxpayers. In Ghana,we have gov't officials & lawmakers who have tested positive & are on isolation & it's secret.

There are countless number of issues that came to the fore in the past 48 hrs but you decided to talk about Boris Johnson. I hope you have not swept the Agyenim Agyei's(PPA boss) issue under the carpet.
— Only God (@ras_nunana) April 6, 2020
It's now clear that you do propaganda on our local TV & Radio stations, and you don't care about what's happing in Ghana. Very sad you are the one on that seat. God will surely take care of us!.
