National chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul Afoko, has asserted that the current leadership of the party is resolute to make Nana Akufo-Addo the next president of Ghana in 2017.

According to him, his promise to deliver power to the NPP under his tenure would not be reneged, stressing that whatever it takes to make Nana Addo the next president of the country, he is prepared to ensure that it happens.

He noted that Ghanaians had been plunged into a state of discomfort and distress by the current government and that they could not afford another four- year term of long suffering under the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Addressing constituency and regional executives as well as council of elders of the NPP in the Northern and Upper West Regions in separate engagements as part of his working visit to those areas, he reiterated his commitment to deliver on his mandate.

He observed that the choice of Nana Addo as flagbearer was a decision by majority of the party's delegates, and as its National Chairman, he (Nana) remains his choice and so would have to work as promised to make him Ghana's next president.

Mr. Afoko, who claimed that the grounds were fertile for the NPP to snatch power from the NDC, admitted that it was not going to be an easy task though.

He indicated that the quest for power demanded hard work, commitment and dedication by every individual member of the party to ensure that power is indeed delivered to the NPP.

"We must eschew complacency and work very hard because the NDC would not sit down and allow power to slip through their fingers easily," he admonished.

As part of measures to adequately resource regional and constituency offices of the party ahead of the 2016 elections, he disclosed that a number of vehicles had been procured and were being branded for onward distribution.

He however, expressed worry over bickering in the party and urged members to work together as a united party towards victory in elections 2016.

He added that lessons should be drawn from the Nigerian elections where the APC formed a united and formidable force and made Goodluck Jonathan a one- term president. "We shall also make John Mahama a one-term president by the grace of God," he emphasised.
