National Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoah has indicated that the likes of Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe and his cohorts in the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot run the name of President Akufo-Addo down now with corruption.

According to the Member of Parliament for the Adentan Constituency, inasmuch as people in this country can talk and accuse without basis to denigrate and dent the image of others, President Akufo-Addo will remain exceptional in his 40 years of incorruptible politics.

“He has contested for the Presidency three times before winning . . . the BNI, EOCO and National Security have all investigated the background of Nana Addo with the expectation that they will find something to tag him with corruption. He has served this country in a capacity as a Minister before becoming the President of Ghana. Is it now that he will get involved in corruption?” he wondered.

The NPP Communications Director’s comment on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show is borne out of the fact that the NPP stalwart [Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe] viciously lambasted President Akufo-Addo over the spate of corruption allegations in his government.

Describing the President's posture towards allegations of corruption leveled against his appointees as worrying, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said President Akufo-Addo has the worst record in the history of Ghana.

"The level of corruption under Akufo-Addo's government is the worst ever in the history of Ghana and if he doesn't take care, there'll be civil unrest under his leadership just like the revolution that happened in the North of Africa," he said.

But the Adentan lawmaker in response asserted that, “perhaps, he was lobbying for something from the Nana Addo government which he was not successful and feels bitter. Don’t forget that nothing happens out of the blue; it starts from somewhere and since he didn’t get what he wants then he has decided to destroyed the Nana Addo government."

Yaw Buaben Asamoah, however, inquired from Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe why corruption did not stop in his era when people were shot to death over the canker.

He reminded him that the country has gone past the era of shooting people for corruption as the rule of law is now an acceptable way of changing a government through an election.

He, therefore, emphasized that President Akufo-Addo is in power to impact in the lives of Ghanaians to be remembered as one of the Presidents who transformed the livelihood of his people.

“Nana Addo wants to make a good name for himself; he is developing the country to make a mark for himself so that in the future when the names of Kwame Nkrumah, Kofi Busia, and J.A Kufuor are mentioned, his name will follow. He wants to be mentioned just as Mensah Sabbah and J.B Danquah who helped the foundation of the country, and that is why he is in power. That is why Nana Addo is making education accessible for all Ghanaians to enrich their minds with knowledge and the introduction of E-governance to ensure every Ghanaian take their share in his governance,” he mentioned.

He averred that President Akufo-Addo is running the country with boldness and not seeking for his selfish and parochial interest.
