The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, Ms. Mercy Adu-Gyamfi, is funding the training of 100 young unemployed women selected from across the constituency in dress-making and hairdressing.

It is part of her drive to empower the youth - to make their lives meaningful to themselves and the society.

Ms. Adu-Gyamfi, popularly known as Ama Sey, started life as a hairdresser and has grown into a successful businesswoman.

Speaking at a reception held for her constituents at Akwatia she said she was eager to see the youth acquired skills and trades that would make them economically self-supporting.

She added that the trainees would be supplied with the relevant kits they needed to start their own business.

The MP used the occasion to announce that 18 communities in the constituency were going to enjoy electricity supply.

She said 10 kilometres of roads in the Akwatia town would be upgraded and a bridge constructed to link Akwatia and Kusi.

Mr. Seth Birikorang Ofosu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Denkyembour, said the government was on course and delivering on the promises it made to Ghanaians.

He said they would continue to keep faith with the people and determined to go the extra mile to build a society that worked for everybody.

He therefore called on all to give strong backing to the government as it rolled out carefully thought-through interventions and programmes to make things better for the population.
