Ala Adjetey advises Ghanaians to be time conscious

Accra, Nov. 26, GNA - Mr Peter Ala Adjetey, Former Speaker of Parliament on Sunday advised Ghanaians to be time conscious to increase productivity.

He said for a nation aspiring to attain middle-income status by 2015, Ghanaians should be disciplined, be time conscious and hardworking.

"We need to preach this, since it is only through hard work and not speeches that would move the nation forward," he added. Mr Adjetey gave the advice when speaking at a thanksgiving service to climax activities to mark the Silver Jubilee Anniversary celebration of La Nativity Presbyterian Church in Accra.

The theme for the celebration is 93My Grace is Sufficient for You=94.

Mr Adjetey pointed out that Ghana had not been able to manage its own affairs due to non-compliance with time, adding 93Ghana's First President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah's famous push for Africans to manage their own affairs has been faulted.=94

He called on Ghanaians to learn lessons from Singapore on the need to be hard working and to maintain environmental cleanliness. The Former Speaker of Parliament called on Ghanaians to tolerate each other irrespective of their political affiliation as Ghana was preparing to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Independence next year. Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Ghana in a sermon, urged Christians to lead lives worthy of emulation to win more souls for Jesus Christ. He said the recent media reports of an alleged gay and lesbian conference to be held in Ghana, should be a matter of concern to all Ghanaians on the need to be steadfast.

He commended religious leaders in the country for the opposition they showed during the time of the impending conference and described homosexuals as evil.
