Alan K. Kyerematen, over the weekend, lost to Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo when they contested the flagbearership position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

After the election which took place on 18th October 2014, nationwide, Nana Akufo-Addo won by 94.35% while Alan followed with 4.7% and Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh, also a candidate, came third with 0.91% votes.

Analyzing the results, Managing Editor of the 'Insight' newspaper said Alan Kyerematen deserved to lose the elections. According to him, Alan’s campaign was so ‘sloppy’ that there was no way he was going to win.

Contributing to a panel discussion on PEACE FM's Kokrokoo morning show, Kwesi Pratt Jnr remarked that the issues raised by the man who was once a former Trade minister were not clear enough to put him ahead of the rest of the candidates.

“Do you think the campaign embarked on by Alan Kyerematen and his team is the one which can win elections? I think it was one of the sloppiest campaigns ever organized… the main hub of the campaign is that if Nana is voted for as the flagbearer, he will not be able to win the national elections…is that sufficient to win an election? They didn’t organize their campaign well and so I think they deserved to have lost,” he said.
