The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, has vehemently claimed that it will be a blowout victory for President John Mahama if the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) picks Nana Addo or Alan Kyeremanteng as their 2016 presidential flagbearer.
“If they (NPP) bring Nana Addo, we (NDC) don’t fear and if they bring Alan Kyerematen, it will be a walkaway victory as well for President Mahama and the NDC,” he claimed.
According to him, whereas the NPP are discussing who to lead the party in 2016, the NDC is not in a headlong situation to change President Mahama as its 2016 presidential candidate.
Ade Coker is certain that, President Mahama will run on the ticket of the NDC for the next eight years unopposed because he is the best and most experienced candidate for the ‘umbrella’ fraternity.
“His Excellency John Mahama will have to go for another four years to serve his full eight years unopposed,” he stated.
Speaking on Adom FM, Mr. Ade Coker lauded the president for his brave approach to solve the energy crisis that hit the country early this year.
He believes that, despite the condemnation from the opposition, the president is in a better position to handle such crisis if such occurs in the future, adding that his presidency in 2016 is secured.
“Now Ghanaians don’t even remember the “dumsor dumsor” (erratic power supply) during this few months due to how the president handled the situation. At least for the past two months, the power supply has been good,” he said.
Nonetheless, Mr. Ade Coker insisted that, “no sane NDC person will get up to say that he is going to contest President John Mahama in the 2016 elections. Some of us will not even allow that…we will not allow that because the man (John Mahama) is doing a good job. We are not like the NPP now searching for a flagbearer; we have a President who is working so Ghanaians will give him another chance to serve”.
