Former Member of Parliament for Berekum, Nkrabea Effah Dartey has admonished twice-failed New Patriotic Party Flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyeremateng, to suspend his Presidential ambition for some eight years. Since losing the August 7 race for the NPP’s Presidential ticket for 2012, Alan has been in the news for the wrong reasons, with widespread reports that he is backing the formation of a new political party to advance his presidential ambition.
Although Alan’s aides have variously dismissed the reports, there is evidence to suggest that some key NPP members who sponsored Mr Kyeremateng’s campaign are bankrolling the formation of the new party. Speaking to host of Citi Breakfast Show Moro Awudu on Friday September 3, Hon Effah Datrtey said it would be in Mr Kyeremanteng’s own interest to suspend his Presidential ambition. “Alan burst onto the political scene as a leading member of the NPP then he was made an ambassador to the United States, he came down as Minister of Trades then he wanted to be a Flagbearer.
He has had this fortunate acco lade as ‘Alan cash’ which makes him attractive but whether his support is in depth is another thing altogether”. “Quite surprising I was amazed about the results of the voting because they created the impression that he was running neck to neck with Nana Addo and his campaign machine on the ground looked solid but the returns showed that he is far from reality so I would think that if I were Alan Kyerematen I would quietly go down for the next eight years and just plan and continue to work underground and let people see that he has the capacity to lead and when his time comes he would be successful”.
Capt. Nkrabea Effah Darteh has also taken a swipe at the ruling Mills administration’s management of the country, saying he could foresee the return to power of the NPP in 2013 if the trend of governance continues in such an abysmal way. “When you look on the streets of our cities the feeling you get is that life is very hard. When NPP was in power there was hope, the feeling was that if I work hard I would make it but now things are really hard. Some of their leaders are making things more difficult…I believe strongly that if NPP, we concentrate on our members nationwide and remain very vigilant…with our message of hope led by Nana Addo we would win the election in 2012”
