The VRA staff leader, Mr. Ken Sackeyfio, who gave the disrespectful and ill-mannered advice at a durbar at Akosombo at the height of the ?VRA crisis? that, ?Whoever brought Charles Wereko Brobby to VRA should come and take him away?, and one of his immediate lieutenants are at the centre of a huge financial scandal and possible fraud involving the loss of more than one billion and two hundred thousand cedis of staff contributions entrusted to their care.
A massive hole of ?1.2 billion has been uncovered in the investment accounts of the Akosombo Hydro Credit Union whose Management Committee is headed by Mr. Ken Sackeyfio, who also headed the VRA Senior Staff Association for many years, and is currently ?Special Adviser? to the current leadership that fabricated false accusations against the former Chief Executive, Dr. Charles Wereko Brobby.
The careless mismanagement and fraudulent diversion of funds was exposed last November when key members of the Credit Union were arrested by the Police in Accra as they tried to withdraw funds from the Union?s account supposedly held at the Fidelity Bank. In spite of issuance of regular periodic statements, the so-called Hydro Credit Union Investment account at Fidelity Bank turned out to be a complete hoax.
