A scary and mind-boggling information picked up during sorties into the corridors of power, the Osu Castle by the Independent indicates that the office of the second most important personality in the country, Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, has been bugged by some mischievous persons whose motives are not yet clear.
The Independent can confirm without equivocation that some sophisticated bugging gadgets used by intelligence agencies and security establishments around the world have been discovered planted in some obscure places in the Vice President's office at the Osu Castle, the seat of government.
Sources at the offices of the Vice President indicated that the recent discovery of the security gadgets has had a terrible effect on the man who has discharged creditably his obligations as the number two man in the republic, and it has created a disquieting calm at the office.
Reliable sources further hinted that, the clandestine move, which was detected about two weeks ago, did plunge personnel at the office into state of panic and suspicion as tongues are wagging in all directions as to who could commit such a treasonable act of bugging the office of the Vice President.
However, the Independent's quest to obtain confirmation from officials in the office of the Vice President hit a snag as his senior special aide, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, flatly denied knowledge of the obviously embarrassing development that does have far-reaching political and security implications.
The special aide's denial does not come as a surprise since any unguarded statements could have far-reaching security implications. He simply told The Independent that "we are not aware of that, we will quickly ask the security to investigate," when the paper called him yesterday to enquire further about the information.
