The inconsistencies that ensued between the Ministry of Sports and the GBC have generated varied opinions on X, as netizens demand accountability.

The conflict stems from contradicting reports between the Ministry of Sports and the GBC regarding some $3 million supposedly allocated to the GBC for coverage of the 13th All African Games held in Ghana, in early 2024.

This issue has caused a series of topics to trend, including #NPPareAgainstThePeople, sports minister, all African games, AFCON, and Mustapha Ussif.

The hashtag, which came about as a result of a social media campaign demanding for affordable data prices in the country, is fast gaining momentum as netizens continue to mount pressure on authorities.

Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Sports, during the Public Accounts Committee hearing, disclosed that his outfit paid $3 million to the state broadcaster, GBC, for the coverage of the All African Games that was hosted in the country.

The GBC, however, refuted the minister’s claim, stating that they only received an amount of $105,000 for their involvement.
