All African leaders must emulate President Akufo-Addo - Aliu Mahama

Son of late former Vice President Aliu Mahama, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has emphasized the need for African leaders to emulate the courage and visionary leadership characters of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reverse the economic disorder in Africa.

The Yendi-based Senior Business Executive and politician said Akufo-Addo’s vision of leadership, incorruptibility and drive to make Ghana self-sufficient beyond the incessant reliant on aid for development are what put him up and above his peers in Africa.

Aliu Mahama explained that the continent needed strong men and women with foresightedness and dynamism to help consolidate their economic gains. Mr. Aliu Mahama was speaking at the 2018 edition of the celebration of Black History Month at the Westminster Parliament, United Kingdom.

The Black History Month, organised in conjunction with MP Alok Sharma, the UK Minister for Employment, as well as MP Helen Grant, seeks to bring people together from different multi-cultural and social backgrounds to celebrate their stories and to honour the too-often neglected accomplishments of blacks in every area of endeavour throughout history.

He said Africa is described as a continent with grand mass of natural resources but lacks leaders who stand for principles and values.

”I am confident that Africa will rise with the emergence of leaders like President Akuffo Addo who holds the view that Africa’s development lies in her break away from the aid mentality to a trust in our own African ability,” he said.

Farouk Aliu Mahama also urged the business class to consider investing in the vast untapped sectors of Ghana. The programme was attended by UK Minister of Employment, MP Alok Sharma, MP Helen Grant, distinguished UK politicians as well as the UK black community.
