A deputy general secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Obiri Boahen, has stated that all is not well with the party following developments to do with parallel delegation of roles within the party.
'All is not well with our party, there are those who fear to say it but I am saying it,' he stated. His views come on the back of what he described as a 'sad and disgraceful development' where he was asked by the party's legal committee to represent the party in a case only to meet another lawyer who had ostensibly been sent by the party's General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
He is of the strong view that there are members of the party who were interested in seeing the ambitions of the presidential flagbearer Nana Addo, continually fail. He is of the view that the actions of some of the party members will lead them to toil in vain.
He rejected media reports ascribed to the general secretary's explanation that the 'legal and constitutional committee' of the party was a creation of the Jake-Sir John administration and that the current executives wanted to review the status of the committee.
The legal luminary hinted that a similar parallel delegation of roles was likely to play out in the Ashanti region where Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi has filed to represent the party even though other party members were also set to oppose that.
He bemoaned how the general secretary had ever held a meeting in the region but he was not at any point-in-time informed.
He was speaking on Ekosii Sen program on Accra-based Asempa fm
