The Co-Spokesperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Transition Team, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has announced that preparations are complete for the inauguration of President-Elect John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Saturday, January 4, 2025, he provided details about the arrangements for the event, including the three-zone division of the venue.

"To ensure an orderly and well-organised event, three zones have been created within the Independence Square for the ceremony. I would like to remind the public that this ceremony is a Parliamentary session, which means that Parliament will be relocated from Parliament House to this square for the event.

"You must bear in mind that it is a Parliamentary session, and therefore certain rules apply. In accordance with this, entry into the parliamentary system will be strictly regulated, and access to this coordinated area will be by invitation only. I must repeat, you will gain access to your designated area only by invitation," he stated.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu further emphasised that uninvited individuals would not be allowed into the swearing-in area.

"I would like to remind the public and invited guests that they will not be allowed into the swearing-in area without presenting the appropriate invitation cards. This is extremely important and has been implemented to ensure that there is no mix-up and that the event is not disrupted by unwarranted movements. This rule applies to all invited guests, except the outgoing President and Vice President, visiting Heads of State, visiting Vice Presidents, and visiting Speakers of Parliaments," he stated.

To create an opportunity for as many people as possible to witness the historic event, Felix Kwakye Ofosu announced that large LED screens would be installed.

"Large LED screens will be mounted to ensure that those who cannot gain access to the immediate environs of the venue can still witness the event. The stands immediately to the right of the Independence Square have been reserved for hundreds of our police officers, members of the media, and reporters who have been accredited to cover the event. All necessary facilities will be provided to ensure smooth coverage," he noted.
