The Winneba District Magistrate Court has remanded into prison custody a 16-year-old boy alleged to be an accomplice in the murder of a taxi driver at Walababa Beach near a village in the Effutu Municipality.

The plea of Akwesi Owusu, native of Twifo Praso, was not taken, and he will re-appear before the court on May 22.

Narrating the facts of the case to the court presided over by Mr. Charles Wiafe, the prosecution, Detective Sergeant Peter Agbelie, said on January 25 this year, one Kweku Abarkah, a taxi driver from Gomoa Abaasa, now deceased, left home for work and did not return.

He said the matter was reported to the police, and the taxi was later found in the house of one Prince Biadoo, a 21-year-old spiritualist at Nsuakyere in the Effutu Municipality who was arrested.

According Detective Sgt. Agbelie, when the spiritualist was interrogated, he mentioned Owusu as his accomplice and added that both of them lured the deceased to Walababa beach with the intention to perform a ritual and succeeded in killing him and buried him at the same beach.

The prosecution said Owusu went into hiding after the act, but was arrested at his hide-out at Twifo Praso.
