The Central Regional Communications Director of the governing National Democratic Congress, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has counseled the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie to desist from capitalizing on the recent sacked Deputy Communication Minister’s leaked tape to campaign for a position in the NPP’s forthcoming National Executive elections.
According to him, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie’s recent call for the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood to probe the election petition judgement due to some exposé made by Ms. Victoria Hammah in a leaked tape is just to “muddy the waters”.
In a statement signed by Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John, “the NPP is shocked at the damning revelations made by now former Deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Hammah, that the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition delivered by Justice William Atuguba on the 29th of August was influenced by the government of President John Dramani Mahama”.
Adding that, “The NPP is calling on the Chief Justice to, as a matter of urgency; institute a commission to probe the judgement of the 9 Supreme Court judges in the wake of these revelations by Victoria Hammah”.
But speaking on Asempa FM, Allotey Jacobs however condemned the “Vickyleaks” but cautioned Sir John to be mindful of his utterances.
“His (Sir John) choice of words landed him a big problem at the apex court and he will not take a lesson from that. He only comes to muddy the waters. If he is contesting for an election, don’t take Victoria Hammah’s issue to be a platform to champion your Secretaryship.
“If he (Sir John) thinks Victoria Hammah has said something harmful, he is a lawyer so he should take her to court. He is a lawyer but don’t act and talks like a lawyer,” he said.
