Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that the Komenda Sugar Factory was commissioned to prove that ‘the machines worked and can produce sugar’.
According to him, even though sugar was produced at the initial stages, it was not in commercial quantities nor was it for commercial purposes.
“NDC wanted to prove the machines worked and can produce sugar . . . just to show people that the factory can produce sugar,” he indicated.
Allotey Jacobs, who is now a social commentator, speaking on Peace FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, said it is factual that the factory was revamped under erstwhile Mahama administration and so the ruling government should stop creating the impression that nothing was done.
“As for the Forensic audit; nothing will come out from it…if we claim governance is a continuous process and he knows the factory has not been completed what has he been doing. If NDC has constructed the factory, consider it as an incubator…and then pursue money to furnish it with the raw materials to benefit the people of the Central Region. The necessary things to be done for the factory to be operational should be done…we don’t want stories and political talks," he stated.
